Louise Chin Yang was born in New York City, April 22, 1914, and died on August 26, 2006. She graduated from Barnard College and earned a Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. She was employed by the Pittsburgh Public School District until her retirement in 1983. Her parents operated a laundry in Queens, NY; at one memorable vacation time, laundry was ironed by a Ph.D, folded by a Ph.D, rung up at the register by an M.D. and wrapped by a M.S.W. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pitt Distinguished Service Professor C.K. Yang, her brother, Dr. Robert Chin and her sister, Dr. Mary Chin Miroff. She is survived by her sons, Dr. Wallace Yank (Jean) of Fresno, California and Wesley Yang (Mary Ann McDunn) of Mount Lebanon; grandchildren, Margaret, Christopher, Thomas and Robert, her brother, Dr. Henry Chin and numerous nieces and nephews. There was no Memorial Service at her request. Memorial contributions may be made to Barnard College, the United Way, or Beginning with Books.
