Sara Courtney Busch of Ligonier and James Garvin Whetzel Jr. of Pittsburgh, were united in marriage on June 6, 2009 at Holy Trinity Church in Ligonier. The ceremony was concelebrated by The Most Reverend Lawrence E. Brandt, Bishop of Greensburg and Monsignor William G. Charnocki, Pastor of Holy Trinity Church.
The bride is the daughter of Cynthia and Lawrence Busch of Ligonier. The bridegroom is the son of Charlene and John Friel of Pittsburgh and Juanita and James Garvin Whetzel, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white silk tulle ballgown style gown designed by Carolina Herrera with a strapless, crumbcatcher bodice. She carried an arm bouquet of fragrant stock and Italian ruscus.
Ingrid Albrecht of Champaign, Illinois and Elizabeth Haight of New York City served as Maids of Honor. The bridesmaids were Lisa Kobylarz of Hoboken, New Jersey, Molly Friel of Pittsburgh and Caroline Koester of Portland, Oregon. They wore white silk embroidered dresses designed by Betsy Johnson and apple green silk heels. They carried nosegays of yellow gerbera and white mum daisies and green viburnum.
The Best Men were John Patrick Friel and Matthew Whetzel both of Pittsburgh. The groomsmen were Josh Battistone of Richmond Virginia, James Busch of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Dr. Ryan Busch of Cleveland, Ohio.
The wedding reception was held at The Rolling Rock Club with dinner and dancing, and ended with a fireworks display by Zambelli Fireworks.
The couple took a wedding trip to Caneel Bay on St. John Island in the U.S. Virgin Islands and now make their home in San Antonio, Texas where James is an attorney with USAA and Sara is an associate with the law firm of Fulbright & Jaworski. L.L.P.
