Falconi’s Moon Township Dealership welcomes friends of its friends At the
Falconi’s Moon Township Dealership, comprising Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Ford, Suzuki and Cadillac franchises, there is a saying that applies no matter which dealership you visit. “We say we are a place ‘where friends send friends,’” said John J. Macuga, Operations Manager for the dealerships, which are located on a complex of some 21 acres on University Boulevard in Moon Township.
The driving force behind the Group is Angelo Falconi, who was once the youngest Ford Dealer in the United States. Starting with his Ford franchise in Pennsylvania, Falconi at one point had established 24 dealerships nationwide. Though the number of dealerships is no longer so great, the dedication to customer service hasn’t diminished one bit. “Mr. Falconi treats everyone as a friend,” said Macuga, “and we do, too. We work very hard at customer service.”
The effort has earned the various dealerships plenty of recognition. In 2007 the Ford dealership received the Ford President’s Award, reserved for dealerships that make a commitment to delivering consistent first-class customer service. At the Honda franchise, the Honda President’s Award has been garnered four times for superior achievement in customer satisfaction. The other franchises have their own plaques and awards, indicative of their commitment to customers.
In addition to its investment in inventory, the Group invests heavily in its people. This is especially true today, when computers are an integral part of new cars and trucks. “We probably spend an average of $5,000 per year on our Master Technicians, and an average of $3,500 per year on people working to become master technicians,” Such training, he added, is ongoing, as the sophistication of the technology is constantly changing.
Extending the hand of friendship reaches beyond the confines of the dealerships. Falconi Moon Township Dealership is very involved in the local community. Little League, Moon Township Area Chamber of Commerce and nearby Robert Morris College are just a few of the organizations and institutions that benefit from donations and sponsorships.
Macuga won’t play favorites, but said certain makes and models seem to be drawing more than their share of attention these days. He cited the 2008 Honda Accord as a big seller, and pointed to the 2009 Hyundai Genesis as a breakthrough sedan that looks more expensive than it is. It makes available Hyundai’s first U.S. V-8 as one of three engine options.
Macuga is in a planning mode right now, preparing for the Group’s Memorial Day Sale, which will include a car cruise. Starting Thursday, May 22, and concluding on Memorial Day at 3 p.m., there will be a large selection of inventory, both new and pre-owned. There will be popcorn, soda, and balloons, said the Operations Manager, and “Chef Macuga will be there to cook the hot dogs.”
