Bill Gray takes a family approach at dealership

Bill Gray and his wife, Darlene, have been entrusted with a family business they very much care about. “They are hands-on six days a week,” said Scott Ritchey, general manager of Bill Gray Buick Pontiac GMC on West Liberty Avenue. Actually, the dealership is one of a pair, the other being Bill Gray Volvo, in the same location, which is a little more than a mile from downtown Pittsburgh.

“The Grays,” said Ritchey, who has 28 years with the Bill Gray dealerships, “run a truly family-oriented store. Employees are looked upon as family.”

The family approach is second nature for Bill Gray, whose father first began selling used cars on West Liberty. The dealership, which some remember as Massey Buick, was purchased by Bill Sr. in 1979.

In addition to its customer service, Bill Gray Buick Pontiac GMC has other strengths. Ritchey said a wide range of product, a large truck inventory, and an awareness of market conditions keep the dealership highly competitive.

“Right now,” said Ritchey, “General Motors has some exceptional buying incentives and, for the shorter term, leasing options that keep payments low, provide long-term warranties, and put you in fuel-efficient vehicles that won’t cost an arm and a leg to operate.”

Certified pre-owned vehicles are a growing part of business, Ritchey said. They go through a rigorous reconditioning process.

“We have a dealership you can count on,” he added. “If you have an issue, we will take care of it for you.”
